Dubai: Parkin Company, known for its extensive paid public parking services in Dubai, has revealed an enhancement in its collaboration with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to support the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the first phase of this initiative will see DEWA rolling out new EV charging stations in the first quarter of 2025. These stations, powered by alternating current (AC) with a capacity of 22 kilowatts x 2, will be installed at prime parking locations managed by Parkin. Each station is designed to serve two parking spaces, facilitating efficient use of resources.
The chosen sites for these new charging stations include on-street parking locations within zones A and C. These areas, situated in high-density residential neighborhoods, currently lack sufficient EV charging infrastructure. This development will allow residents to pay for both EV charging and parking through a single, streamlined transaction using Parkin's app and digital wallet.
This partnership is set to increase the number of DEWA EV Green Charger stations across Dubai. As a result, residents and workers will have improved access to EV charging facilities, which is anticipated to boost the utilization of parking spaces near the chargers. This, in turn, is expected to enhance the operational efficiency and revenue potential of these locations.
