Derasat Welcomes High-Level UN Delegation for Strategic Talks

Manama: Abdulla Mohammed Alahmed, Executive Director of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat), welcomed a distinguished UN delegation led by Dr. Abdullah Al Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation included Asmaa Shalabi, Resident Representative of the UNDP in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Jehan Al Murbati, Senior Program Specialist. The meeting featured a roundtable session attended by key figures including Shaikha Nayla bint Ali Al Khalifa, Director of Communication and Knowledge, and Dr. Omar Al Ubaydli, Director of the Studies and Research Department, along with several affiliates of the center.

During the discussions, the parties reviewed ongoing cooperation efforts, focusing on preparations for the "Human Development Report 2026" themed "Digital Transformation in the Kingdom of Bahrain." This initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 27, 2024, between Derasat and the UNDP, which aims to foster joint cooperation with contributions from relevant national ministries and agencies.

This meeting underscores the strong relationship between Derasat and the UNDP, highlighting both entities' commitment to expanding cooperation areas and exchanging expertise on mutual interests. These efforts aim to support sustainable development and enhance institutional dialogues at both regional and international levels.
