Manama:Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, presided over the 316th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure to evaluate significant infrastructure and development initiatives.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee praised the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's recent visits to Sitra and Hidd, which focused on assessing citizens' needs. The visits also included Bapco Refining and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) to acknowledge national personnel responsible for maintaining energy supply and industrial production.
The committee emphasized the measures taken to compensate citizens affected by damage to their homes and vehicles during the Iranian attacks and commended the efforts to repair damaged properties and assist affected families.
Additionally, the committee welcomed the creation of an Environmental and Public Health Crimes Unit to bolster enforcement in the areas of environmental protection and public health.
Plans to enhance wastewater infrastructure were reviewed, alongside initiatives to improve road safety with upgraded traffic signs and markings. The committee also discussed expanding sustainable management of used cooking oil.
Ongoing improvements to the road network, including the addition of new turning lanes on National Charter Street, were highlighted. There were also discussions on the development of the Manama Central Market to support increasing commercial activities.
Furthermore, the committee explored the expansion of digital government services and the introduction of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in preparation for future upgrades to the "Benayat" building permit system.
