Deputy Prime Minister Chairs IPA Board Meeting to Review Strategic Initiatives

Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the third quarter meeting of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) for 2025. The meeting reviewed the institute's key achievements and monitored the progress of its programmes and strategic initiatives aimed at equipping and developing public sector employees with modern skills aligned with international best practices in administration.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering national talent within the public sector. This is being achieved through the enhancement of training and professional development programmes, which contribute to improved government performance and the consolidation of governance principles.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that, in line with the Government Programme for 2023-2026, the government is dedicated to investing in the development of national cadres and strengthening the efficiency of the public sector by advancing institutional performance, elevating the quality of public services, and fostering innovation. In this context, he highlighted the pivotal role of the Institute of Public Administration, which through its specialised programmes designed to build capacity and develop government leadership, thereby supporting the sustainability of excellence in the public sector.

At the outset of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and fellow Board members extended their congratulations to Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, Director General of the IPA, on her election as a member of the Board of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS). This recognition reflects her outstanding contributions to public administration and institutional development, as well as her leadership in supporting initiatives that promote efficiency and governance in government work.

The Board reviewed the institute's performance indicators for the second quarter of the current year, which demonstrated significant growth in the number of training programmes delivered and an increase in beneficiaries. This reflects the effectiveness of the implemented training plans and the quality of the accredited programmes.

The Board also discussed developments regarding the Institute's institutional accreditation with the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), emphasising the importance of maintaining efforts to achieve the highest standards of institutional quality and ensuring the sustainability of performance improvement and development.

Additionally, the Board considered the recent international accreditation of the Institute's "Tour Guiding" programme by the British organisation NOCN, following the Institute's fulfilment of all requirements to be recognised as an accredited centre. The programme is now acknowledged as a certified professional qualification, further enhancing the Institute's standing as a leading provider of education and training in the region.

In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the national staff at the Institute, whose dedication continues to drive progress and raise standards of efficiency within the government sector.
