Deputy Prime Minister Chairs 293rd Ministerial Committee Meeting


Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the 293rd meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects. The committee commended the efforts of Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), acknowledging his contributions to government work as part of Team Bahrain through various national roles. The committee also praised his support of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee reviewed the 2023-2026 strategic plan of the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions, examining operational performance indicators for 2025. This is part of efforts to develop the engineering sector, enhance workforce efficiency, and ensure quality outputs. Additionally, the committee discussed a report by a taskforce on providing infrastructure and related services as per approved plans across the Kingdom, and assessed the Ministry of Works’ project quality assurance programme.



The committee followed up on progress related to relocating scrap materials to a new site in the Hafeera Area (Block 959) and the compliance of this process with regulatory requirements. Developments in using artificial intelligence technologies to detect changes and building violations were also discussed, aiming to improve oversight and accurately identify infringements. Updates on the redevelopment project of the historical area of the Manama Souq were reviewed.
