Defendants wanted for terrorism and murder arrested in Basra

Basra Police Chief, Major General Latif Abdul-Rida Al-Saad, announced the arrest of one of those wanted for terrorism and murder after an exchange of fire in al-Qibla area.

The police chief stated in a statement: After receiving information about the whereabouts of one of the most dangerous criminals wanted by judicial authorities in accordance with the provisions of Article Four of the Anti-Terrorism Law and the provisions of Article 406 of the Penal Code (premeditated murder) and his brothers, who are wanted in accordance with Article Four of the Anti-Terrorism Law, immediately… a work team was formed that included the Director of the Anti-Crime Department, Shatt Al-Arab Crime Combat Division, and the Tactical Regiment, under the supervision, follow-up, and personal supervision of him, to overthrow the criminals.

He added, “During the raid on the house, heavy fire was fired at the raiding force with various weapons by the defendants. After an exchange of fire with them, they were surrounded and took th
eir family members hostage and as human shields for them,” indicating, “After negotiations with them, the hostages were released without any injuries.” The accused were arrested and various weapons and equipment were seized inside the house.
