Manama: The death toll from a boat sinking in Niger State, north-central Nigeria, has risen to 60.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Abdullahi Baba Ara, Chairman of Borgu Local Government Area, indicated that the number could increase, as 10 individuals are in critical condition and many others remain unaccounted for.
Sa'adu Inuwa Muhammad, Chairman of Shagumi Local Government Area, reported that the boat was carrying more than 100 people at the time of the incident. He also noted that the majority of the victims were women and children.
