Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps Hosts Iftar Honoring London Mayor and Muslim UK MPs


London: Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps in London and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, hosted an Iftar banquet on behalf of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in honor of Sir Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, and several Muslim Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was attended by the Rt. Hon. Nusrat Ghani, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, along with Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and ambassadors of Arab states accredited to the United Kingdom.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ambassador welcomed the Mayor of London and the Muslim Members of the British Parliament, exchanging greetings and best wishes with the distinguished guests on the occasion of Ramadan. Attendees highlighted the values of tolerance, solidarity, and compassion associated with the holy month, emphasizing its significance in fostering communication and mutual understanding among diverse cultures and communities.



During the Iftar banquet, discussions took place on various regional and international issues of common interest. Participants expressed their condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure in the Gulf Cooperation Council states and other Arab and Islamic nations, acknowledging the human and material losses incurred. They emphasized the importance of respecting state sovereignty and international law, as well as promoting regional security and stability to serve the interests of the people and prevent escalation and tension.



The meeting also explored ways to enhance the longstanding Arab-British relations and reviewed areas for joint cooperation to meet the aspirations of Arab peoples. Discussions focused on enhancing the role of Arab embassies accredited to the United Kingdom for the benefit of all involved.
