Manama: The Bahrain Institute of Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) played a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa's pearl diving race, held as part of the eighth edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season. DANAT participated as the specialized authority responsible for examining pearls extracted during the competition.
According to Bahrain News Agency, DANAT's involvement included examining the pearls obtained by divers after the oysters were shucked, upon requests from the jury or when there were queries about the pearls' authenticity. This examination process was crucial to maintain the integrity of the competition and the quality of the pearls. DANAT utilized advanced technology, scientific methods, and specialized equipment, along with its expertise in pearl testing, reinforcing its standing as a leading center in the region for pearl evaluation.
Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, highlighted that their participation aligns with the institute's mission to preserve Bahrain's heritage of natural pearls and ensure the authenticity of pearls from Bahraini waters.
