Manama: The Bahrain Institute of Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) concluded a five-week intensive gemmology masterclass, held in collaboration with Kooheji Jewellery as part of the fourteenth edition of Youth City 2030. The initiative took place at Exhibition World Bahrain, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
According to Bahrain News Agency, this specialised masterclass provided advanced training for forty-seven aspiring Bahraini students, and covered pearls, diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds, highlighting not only the beauty of these precious gems but also the importance of developing expertise in this specialised field.
Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, highlighted that training 47 Bahraini youth in this specialised field is timely given the growing global demand for skilled gemstone experts, noting that such initiatives reinforce DANAT's role in developing future talent and strengthening Bahrain's standing as a global centre for gemmology and jewellery.
Jamsheer added that nurturing young talent is crucial for revitalising the pearl industry and expanding the jewellery and gemstone sector, especially given the shortage of local experts. She described the graduation of this group of Bahraini youth as a proud milestone in cultivating a new generation of specialists who can preserve the nation's heritage while meeting global standards.
Jamsheer underscored DANAT's commitment to equipping youth with the skills needed for careers in the pearl and jewellery sector, highlighting the Institute's role in preparing a new generation to drive industry growth and support the National Plan for the Revitalisation of the Pearls sector.
Mohamed Al Kooheji, Business Marketing and Growth Manager at Kooheji Jewellery, emphasised that the company is proud to have trained young Bahrainis in the field of jewellery design for the fourth consecutive year. He added that this initiative is part of their commitment to preparing youth for the job market, enabling them to find employment opportunities in the jewellery design sector.
Al Kooheji said that the training reflects Kooheji Jewellery's commitment to developing Bahraini youth, adding that the collaboration with DANAT, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, supports their shared goal of preparing a new generation of professionals to sustain and grow the industry.
