Tokyo: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, met with the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shigeru Ishiba, during an official visit to Japan.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting underscored the robust relationship between Bahrain and Japan, emphasizing the strategic partnership's role in fostering bilateral cooperation in vital sectors.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the collaborative efforts led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, which have significantly strengthened the ties between the two nations. The Crown Prince expressed Bahrain's commitment to enhancing this partnership, aiming to unlock mutually beneficial opportunities aligned with shared goals.
During the meeting, HRH Prince Salman praised the successful organization of Expo 2025 Osaka, noting its contribution to addressing global challenges through innovative solutions. The Crown Prince emphasized the importance of international participation in such events, reflecting advancements across various fields and promoting sustainable development.
The discussions also covered regional and international developments, focusing on global peace and stability. It was announced that Bahrain and Japan would elevate their bilateral relations from a comprehensive partnership to a strategic partnership, paving the way for expanded collaboration in key sectors.
Several agreements were signed during the visit, including a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Bahrain Space Agency and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and another between Bahrain's Civil Service Bureau and Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE). Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Bahrain's Information and e-Government Authority and Japan's Digital Agency, among other agreements enhancing cooperation.
The official visit concluded with a dinner banquet hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan in honor of HRH the Crown Prince and the accompanying delegation, marking a significant step forward in Bahrain-Japan relations.
