Council of Representatives Hosts US Congress Delegation to Enhance Bilateral Ties

Manama: The Council of Representatives received a delegation of members of the United States Congress as part of their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting reviewed the historical ties between Bahrain and the United States, focusing on ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly at the parliamentary level. Discussions included the exchange of visits and expertise to benefit from shared legislative experiences.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation was briefed on the Secretariat-General's strategy to enhance parliamentary operations, including services provided to members of parliament and human capital development through training and the adoption of advanced technologies to support general sessions and committee meetings. The delegation also toured the Council's premises, gaining insight into parliamentary workflows and procedures through an on-site visit to various committee rooms and halls.

The US delegation commended the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its parliamentary model in the region, highlighting the importance of continued exchange between the Council of Representatives and the US Congress. They also noted the need to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and coordination on policy positions in international forums to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.
