Manama: Members of the Council of Representatives, government officials, and experts in environment, energy, and green development participated in a seminar organised by the Council's Secretariat, focusing on legislative leadership for environmental protection, sustainable development, and carbon neutrality. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, highlighted Bahrain's commitment to environmental sustainability under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam emphasised the importance of green technologies, eco-friendly practices, and community engagement in environmental initiatives. Discussions covered sustainable parliamentary practices, eco-friendly procurement, Bahrain's afforestation efforts, the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative, and partnerships with civil society and international organisations.
Al Musallam also noted that the Council earned ISO 14001 certification in environmental management, becoming the first parliament in the region to achieve this international recognition.
