Manama: The Council of Representatives emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, represents a leading model in respecting and protecting rights and public freedoms, and in safeguarding human dignity.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Council commended the address delivered by His Majesty the King on the occasion of the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, which emphasised that Bahrain has been and will remain a nation of peace. In line with the royal directives, the Council expressed its support for taking necessary measures to protect national principles, strengthen their presence, and advance development and productivity, while mobilising efforts to further Bahrain's reform process in cooperation with constitutional institutions.
Marking Arab Human Rights Day, observed annually on March 16, the Council expressed pride in Bahrain's achievements in promoting human rights and consolidating the rule of law and institutions within the framework of comprehensive development process.
The Council noted that the Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain and other countries constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, resulting in casualties and injuries, spreading fear among civilians, and threatening lives, property, and civilian and important facilities.
It called for coordinated Arab parliamentary and human rights action to document these violations and submit them to relevant international organisations, urging the international community to take immediate and decisive measures to halt the attacks.
The Council also commended the government's efforts in implementing the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026) and in preparing the next plan (2027-2031), expressing appreciation for the contributions of national institutions and human rights organisations in Bahrain.
