Council of Representatives Approves State Budget for 2025-2026

Manama: The Council of Representatives held its twenty-fourth regular session of the third annual sitting of the sixth legislative term, chaired by Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam. During this session, the council approved the state budget for the fiscal years 2025-2026.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Al Musallam expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his directives prioritizing national interests and advancing development for the benefit of citizens. He also acknowledged the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for implementing the King's vision and enhancing cooperation with the legislative authority through a modern national framework based on consultation and ongoing dialogue to achieve shared goals and development priorities.

Speaker Al Musallam emphasized that the consultative and coordination meetings between the legislative and executive authorities during the budget discussions demonstrated a shared commitment and national responsibility. He extended his thanks to Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, and the heads and members of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committees in both councils, as well as all members of the legislative authority and supporting teams.

Further appreciation was expressed to Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Buainain, Minister of Shura and Representatives Council Affairs, along with the legislative authority and government teams for providing the necessary data and clarifications. These efforts, according to Al Musallam, helped reach a consensus that serves national and citizen interests, and supports financial sustainability in line with development goals.

The Speaker also recognized Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives, and the entire Secretariat staff for their efforts. Addressing citizens, he affirmed that national interest will remain the core objective for both councils and the government under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

In addition to budget discussions, the council reviewed a request to issue a statement on the occasion of Bahraini Youth Day and approved its inclusion on the agenda, authorizing the Bureau to prepare and issue the statement.
