Muscat: A commercial vessel, MAYUREE NAREE, flagged to the Kingdom of Thailand, was targeted approximately 13 nautical miles off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Maritime Security Centre reported that the incident led to a fire breaking out in the vessel's main engine room.
A vessel from the Royal Navy of Oman was dispatched to the scene and successfully evacuated 20 Thai nationals from the ship. There were reports of injuries of varying severity among the crew members.
