Civil Service Bureau Updates Remote Work Policy, Limits Office Attendance to 50%

Manama: The Civil Service Bureau has announced an update to its remote work policy, limiting office attendance to 50% of staff across all government entities, effective from Sunday, April 5, until further notice. Sectors where staff presence is essential due to the nature of their work are exempt from this limitation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bureau stressed the importance of government entities coordinating with it to determine suitable attendance levels for each entity or deciding the necessity of returning to the workplace based on task requirements, thereby ensuring the continuity of work. Each entity is tasked with identifying the positions and employees that fall under this attendance limit.

To bolster emergency preparedness, the Bureau’s guidelines emphasize strict adherence to instructions from relevant authorities concerning alert systems, safety measures, preventive actions within workplaces, and evacuation plans. This is to be done in collaboration with the General Directorate of Civil Defence to ensure the safety of both employees and visitors.

The guidelines further mandate each government entity to assign a team responsible for coordinating with relevant authorities when needed. They must also implement awareness and training programs to enhance staff readiness for various situations as outlined in established emergency plans. Moreover, these entities are required to provide weekly reports to the Civil Service Bureau to monitor preparedness and adherence to safety procedures.
