Civil Defence Launches Third Phase of Foundational Volunteer Programme

Manama: The General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched the third phase of the foundational programme for volunteers in the service of Civil Defence. This comes as part of the Interior Ministry's strategy to enhance community partnership and strengthen the civil protection system.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme aims to prepare support teams equipped with the readiness and capability to effectively contribute to national efforts in responding to emergencies and disasters.

Brigadier Ali Mohammed Al Kubaisi, the Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, underscored that the volunteering programme reflects the approach of the Interior Ministry, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, in promoting community partnership as a key pillar for enhancing the public safety and security system.

He noted that attracting and integrating volunteers into the Civil Defence framework is a valuable addition that contributes to raising the readiness and efficiency of the national emergency response to various situations.

He added that the volunteering programme embodies the principles of national solidarity and translates the Interior Ministry's strategy to build an aware society capable of cooperating with relevant authorities to address challenges and safeguard the gains of security and stability.

The foundational programme includes a series of theoretical and practical courses, such as first aid, firefighting, safe evacuation procedures, handling hazardous materials, as well as physical and mental preparedness training.
