China’s Fiscal Revenue Sees Marginal Growth in First Nine Months of 2025

Beijing: China's fiscal revenue experienced a slight increase of 0.5 percent year on year, reaching 16.39 trillion yuan (approximately 2.31 trillion U.S. dollars) in the first nine months of 2025. This data was released by the Ministry of Finance on Friday.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the central government collected around 7.08 trillion yuan in fiscal revenue during this period, marking a decrease of 1.2 percent year on year. In contrast, local governments saw an increase of 1.8 percent, collecting 9.3 trillion yuan. China's tax revenue reached a total of 13.27 trillion yuan, reflecting a 0.7 percent increase year on year, while non-tax revenue saw a slight decline of 0.4 percent to 3.12 trillion yuan.

The country's fiscal expenditure rose by 3.1 percent year on year, amounting to 20.8 trillion yuan during the same period. The central government's fiscal expenditure increased by 7.3 percent, while local government expenditure saw a 2.4 percent rise. The expenditure on education was approximately 3.16 trillion yuan, representing a 5.4 percent increase. Spending on science and technology reached 710.5 billion yuan, with a 6.5 percent growth. Additionally, expenditure on social security and employment amounted to 3.49 trillion yuan, up by 10 percent.
