Manama: China's civil aviation sector witnessed a remarkable surge in transportation turnover in August, reaching a record-breaking 15.18 billion tonne-kilometers. This represents an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, as highlighted by the latest data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the first eight months of 2025 saw the total air transportation turnover climb to 108.33 billion tonne-kilometers, marking a 10.5 percent rise from the previous year. During this period, the aviation sector transported over 6.51 million tonnes of cargo and mail, a significant 14.5 percent increase year on year.
In August alone, the number of air passenger trips reached 75.36 million, reflecting a 3.3 percent growth from the previous year. Notably, international passenger traffic experienced substantial growth of 15.3 percent, totaling 7.47 million trips. From January to August, the overall number of air passenger trips increased by 5.3 percent year on year, amounting to 520 million trips, as reported by CAAC data.
