Erenhot: Erenhot, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has achieved a significant milestone by handling 20,000 China-Europe freight trains since its service began in 2013, as announced by the China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd. on Sunday.
According to Bahrain News Agency, recent years have seen Erenhot port, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, experience substantial growth in train traffic. This growth is attributed to China's expanding international economic and trade cooperation efforts. The port has witnessed increases in the number of trains, their destinations, frequency, and the variety of goods transported.
The port reached its 10,000th train milestone in 2022, with the next 10,000 freight trips being completed in just around three years. Initially, shipments through the port mainly consisted of metal, chemicals, and apparel products. However, the trains now transport high-value-added goods, including new-energy vehicles, electronics, and household appliances.
Erenhot port serves as a crucial entry-exit point for the central corridor of the China-Europe railway service. It currently operates 73 routes, connecting over 60 cities across 24 Chinese provincial-level regions to more than 70 stations in over 10 countries, such as Germany and Poland.
