Zhengzhou: The China-Europe Railway Express has reached a significant milestone, completing 130,000 trips as of Saturday. This achievement was marked by the departure of a freight train from Zhengzhou, the capital of central China's Henan Province, heading toward Hamburg, Germany, at 10 a.m. local time.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the total value of cargo transported by the China-Europe Railway Express has exceeded 520 billion U.S. dollars. The China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. has played a crucial role in optimizing the operational routes of the railway service. Over the years, the company has designated 93 scheduled lines, each with a designed speed of 120 km per hour, reported Xinhua.
Currently, the China-Europe Railway Express service operates in 129 Chinese cities, establishing connections with 235 cities across 26 European countries and over 100 cities in 11 Asian nations. This extensive network effectively covers most of Eurasia.
Since the inception of the service, freight rates have decreased by more than 40 percent. The trains transport over 50,000 types of goods across 53 categories. Key export items include high-value products such as automobiles and auto parts, machinery, electronics, and electrical equipment. Meanwhile, imports into China via the service feature European timber, pulp, specialty agricultural products, and daily consumer goods.
