Chief of Police Chairs Meeting with Implementing Company for Biometric Measurements System Project

Manama: Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Police, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Higher Committee for the Biometric Measurements System Project. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA); and Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). Representatives from IDEMIA Public Security France, the project's implementing company and a global leader in advanced biometric solutions, as well as HJP Consulting, a specialised consultancy firm in biometric systems projects, were also present.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan emphasised that the Biometric Measurements System Project represents a significant qualitative advancement in the security ecosystem. He noted that the project reflects the strategic direction to implement the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, through the adoption of modern and advanced technologies to enhance national security, improve institutional performance, and facilitate electronic services for citizens and residents, in line with digital transformation and development requirements.

He further highlighted that the project will strengthen integration among relevant entities and enhance coordination and periodic follow-up mechanisms across all stakeholders. The Chief of Police emphasised the importance of unified efforts, teamwork, and strict adherence to approved technical and implementation timelines to ensure execution in accordance with the highest applicable standards and the successful achievement of the project's strategic objectives.

During the meeting, the overall framework and technical scope of the project were reviewed. Discussions also covered the implementation plan and approved timeline, alongside the clarification of roles and responsibilities among participating entities to strengthen governance, ensure effective execution, and guarantee the accuracy and quality of outputs.

Representatives of the implementing company presented the execution methodology and the various phases of the project, in line with international best practices and standards for biometric systems. This approach aims to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in data collection and utilisation.

The Biometric Measurements System Project is one of the Ministry of Interior's strategic initiatives, aimed at developing an advanced national system based on modern biometric technologies. The project will serve multiple security and civil entities, contributing to enhanced security, increased credibility and accuracy, and the facilitation of electronic services, while significantly improving the overall user experience.
