Manama:The Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), Khalid Humaidan, took part in a joint meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, alongside Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The meeting, titled 'Economic Prospects and Policy Challenges: Enhancing Resilience to Geopolitical Shocks,' was conducted under Bahrain's presidency of the 46th Session of the GCC and was chaired by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister of Finance and National Economy. According to Central Bank Of Bahrain, the meeting was part of the 126th Ministerial Meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee. It provided a platform for discussions on the economic outlook of the GCC region, focusing on key policy priorities and exploring ways to enhance regional integration and cooperation with the IMF. During the meeting, Governor Humaidan served as a lead discussant in a roundtable discussion. He emphasized the potential of digital assets to improve cross-border payments, drive financial innovation, and develop capital markets. He also stressed the necessity of strong regulatory frameworks to support innovation while maintaining financial stability.
