Cabinet approves 2022-2024 National Water Strategy

A Cabinet session held Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, approved the National Water Strategy for 2022-2024, which followed an extensive study of the Kingdom’s water conditions and the “remarkable” scarcity in Jordan’s limited water sources, amid increasing demand. The strategy features a future planning vision to advance the Kingdom’s water sector and address all related challenges to ensure a “safe and sustainable” water supply and “high-quality” services for citizens, in line with requirements of sustainable economic development. To to implement the strategy, the Cabinet instructed Ministry of Water and Irrigation to complete the necessary procedures to develop detailed programs, under performance indicators set for this purpose, in coordination with all relevant authorities. Moreover, the Cabinet approved Jordan’s national plan to activate Security Council Resolution No. (1325) on Women, Peace and Security for 2022-2025, aimed at enhancing women’s engagement, meeting gender-specific needs and facing challenges that impede women’s participation in various fields. On the other hand, the Cabinet decided to appoint Raghad Sakka as Jordan’s ambassador to Spain at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and Hazem Khatib as the Kingdom’s ambassador to Turkiye. The Council of Ministers also decided to turn Secretary-General of Legislation and Opinion Bureau, Mustafa Nawaisa, into pension.
