Amman: The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) participated in the second in-person meeting of the climate and disaster risk reduction community, titled "Strengthening Approach Through Development of Climate-Smart Disaster Risk Reduction Program" in Jordan.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the BRCS's participation, led by Dr. Nilofer Jahromi, Head of the Young and Youth Committee and Head of the Charity Agricultural Project, was alongside a distinguished group of experts and practitioners in humanitarian work. The meeting aimed to develop international collaboration and exchange expertise in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
Over the course of three days, the meeting facilitated knowledge-sharing, skill development, and partnership-building. It began with an introduction to objectives and a collaborative framework, followed by discussions on disaster risk reduction and nature-based solutions by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The event concluded with specialised working groups developing strategies to enhance National Societies' capacity to tackle climate challenges and natural disasters.
The BRCS actively contributed to various program activities, including presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions that encouraged participant engagement and knowledge-sharing. Dr. Jahromi emphasised that the BRCS's participation aligns with its broader strategy to enhance disaster response capabilities, develop skilled national cadres, and establish specialised relief teams.
Dr. Jahromi highlighted that this engagement supports the objectives of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation while also contributing effectively to Bahrain's national disaster management efforts. She underscored the critical role of regional cooperation and coordination in advancing the goals of humanitarian work and strengthening collective resilience against climate-related risks.
