BRCS Launches Summer Camp to Develop Youth Skills, Promote Humanitarian Values

Manama: The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) launched its summer camp with the participation of a group of young men and women. The two-week training programme aims to develop participants' personal and leadership skills, strengthen the values of humanitarian and volunteer work, and raise awareness of health and environmental issues.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme brings together a group of specialists and trainers who are delivering practical and interactive workshops on a wide range of topics. The sessions are designed to maximise participants' learning and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to different situations, while preparing young people to take responsibility and contribute meaningfully to community initiatives.

The camp began with a workshop titled "Mental Health, Proper Nutrition and a Healthy Lifestyle," delivered by several specialists. The session focused on promoting adolescent wellbeing, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, raising awareness of mental health, and building psychological resilience and the ability to cope with challenges.

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society said the camp forms part of its ongoing efforts to prepare a generation of informed and capable young people who can play an active role in serving their communities. The programme combines interactive lectures, practical exercises and training activities to strengthen participants' readiness for volunteer work and community service.

The Society added that the camp is open to young people aged 16 to 21 and will continue until July 23. Its programme covers leadership, teamwork, first aid, emergency response, communication and public speaking skills, mental health awareness, proper nutrition, environmental protection and recycling. It also introduces participants to the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the foundations of humanitarian action.

The programme has been designed to provide participants with a well-rounded training experience that supports personal development, strengthens a sense of responsibility and initiative, and builds greater awareness of their role in society. These skills are expected to enhance their contribution to community service and their active involvement in humanitarian initiatives.
