Boosting humanitarian cooperation key to easing suffering — IFRC

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) affirmed the importance of cooperation between humanitarian organizations to improve the lives of those in need, especially in Gaza.

The statement was made in a video call by IFRC Vice President Maha Al-Barjas on Wednesday, during the 48th session of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO), held in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

IFRC is continuously exerting great efforts to resolve regional and international humanitarian issues, especially in the Middle East and North Africa, she said.

Al-Barjas added that the federation is alo following up on the recent developments in key world topics including climate change, immigration and displacement.

Meanhwile, Al-Barjas told KUNA the meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in Palestine, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Comoros and Sudan.

The meeting also discussed the emergency fund issue, fiscal reports and the 2023 budget for IFRC General Secretariat, she noted.
