BIPD and Gulf Journalists Federation Host Seminar on Digital Media and AI’s Role in Political Awareness.

Manama: The Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) and the Gulf Federation of Journalists recently held a seminar titled "The Role of Digital Media and AI in Shaping Political Awareness." This event was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Ramzan Bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Minister of Information; Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, BIPD Board Chairman; and Isa Al Shaiji, Gulf Federation of Journalists Chairman. According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Rumaihi emphasized the need to strengthen political awareness to counteract misinformation and to enhance understanding of political decisions. He referenced global statistics showing that 73% of people use the internet, 66% engage with social media, and over 60% of companies use AI in digital marketing. He also warned of the societal risks posed by the misuse of advanced technology. Dr. Al Rumaihi highlighted the growing influence of social media in shaping public opinion and discussed the ethical challenges that AI presents in the realms of dat a privacy and news verification. Isa Al Shaiji praised the partnership with BIPD and reiterated the federation's commitment to fostering regional media collaboration in the context of rapid digital and AI advancements. The seminar comprised two sessions. Mohammed Al Jahmi, BIPD's Director of Programmes and Political Development, led the first session, which focused on the impact of digital media and AI on political awareness. Speakers included Bahrain News Agency Director-General Abdullah Khalil Buheji. The second session was moderated by Gulf Federation of Journalists Media Advisor Mohammed Yousif Khalfan and explored the future of digital media and AI in the region, featuring speakers such as Brigadier Mohammed Bin Dainah, Director General of Media and Security Culture, alongside other academics and media professionals. The event attracted a diverse audience of officials, experts, and students from Bahrain and beyond, highlighting the importance of these discussions in today's rapidly changing digital med ia environment. Dr. Al Rumaihi and Isa Al Shaiji concluded the seminar by acknowledging the contributions of the speakers and session moderators.
