Manama: The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) has announced the launch of a new Certificate in Principles of Payments (CertPay), a globally accredited qualification awarded by the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF). This strategic initiative aims to prepare national talent for the evolving payments sector and enhance Bahrain's status as a regional hub for financial services and FinTech innovation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme is crafted for professionals in banking, payment solution providers, regulatory and compliance roles, corporate treasury and finance, and those seeking to specialise in the payments industry. It offers insights into payment infrastructures, regulatory frameworks, risk management, and emerging innovations such as digital wallets and blockchain technology.
Bassam Kazerooni, Acting Head of the Banking and Finance Centre at BIBF, noted the global transformation in the payments sector driven by digital technologies and the demand for faster, secure services. He stated that the programme is designed to equip Bahraini professionals with top-level knowledge and practical skills, enhancing the financial sector's competitiveness and supporting Bahrain's aim to lead in digital economic development.
Kazerooni further mentioned that the programme aligns with international best practices and includes an online examination, awarding participants with a globally recognised professional certification. This certification opens new opportunities in local and regional job markets.
The new offering adds to BIBF's portfolio of internationally recognised professional qualifications, meeting the needs of financial sector professionals in the Kingdom and the region, empowering them to keep up with the rapid evolution of financial services and technology. The first intake of the programme is scheduled to begin in September 2025, delivered in a flexible hybrid format that combines in-person and online learning.
