Belgium Issues 12 Guidelines for Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence in Advertising

Brussels: The Advertising Council in Belgium, in cooperation with the wider advertising sector, has approved 12 new guidelines for the ethical use of artificial intelligence.

According to Bahrain News Agency, these guidelines were developed with leading industry organisations and are based on existing legislation and charters. They serve as a practical reference for all stakeholders in the advertising industry, ranging from brands to technology providers.

The Committee on Ethical Practices will oversee compliance with these guidelines, ensuring a focus on transparency, consent, and the protection of personal data. Additional emphasis is placed on safeguarding vulnerable groups, such as children, from targeted advertising. The guidelines also address the environmental impact associated with the use of technology, promoting responsible practices within the industry.
