Basra Discusses With UNESCO The Date Of The Official Opening Of The Heritage Houses Revival Project

The local government of Basra discussed today, Wednesday, with the representative of UNESCO in Basra, the latest developments in the work and achievements made at the construction level in the field of reviving heritage houses in the old Basra region.

A statement by the governorate stated: "The first deputy of the governor, Muhammad al-Tamimi, met the representative and coordinator of UNESCO in Basra, Qusay Shamkhawi, and discussed with him the project for the reconstruction of heritage houses in the old Basra region, which is nearing completion, and the date of its official opening."

The statement added that "the meeting touched on the next plan to be implemented by UNESCO to revive the heritage houses, which will include the reconstruction of the central preparatory buildings, the old court, the Komos Church, and one of the old heritage baths."
