Bahrain’s UN Envoy Engages in Strategic Meeting with UNODC Director-General

Vienna: Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and Vienna, held an important meeting with Monica Juma, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Mission in Vienna.

According to Bahrain News Agency, discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Bahrain and the UNODC, as well as among GCC member states. Key topics included strategies to combat transnational organized crime, efforts to counteract drug trafficking, initiatives to strengthen criminal justice systems, and plans to enhance capacity-building. The meeting also addressed international efforts to tackle emerging security challenges.

Both parties emphasized the necessity of ongoing coordination and collaboration between the GCC and the UNODC. Their commitment includes promoting security and stability, strengthening partnerships for implementing joint programs and initiatives, and advancing capacity-building along with the exchange of expertise in areas that are of mutual interest.
