Geneva: Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva, participated in the opening of the Global Youth Summit for Change. The summit was organised by the Youth Centre for Dialogue and Peace in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ambassador highlighted Bahrain's dedication to empowering youth, emphasizing the importance of their role in sustainable development and future building under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He noted national initiatives led by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs. These initiatives include the 'Lamea' programme, aimed at preparing youth leaders, and Youth City 2030, which focuses on skill development and fostering creativity, demonstrating Bahrain's commitment to involving youth in national development.
On an international scale, Ambassador Abdulla highlighted the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. This award, launched in collaboration with UNDP, serves as a global platform for young people to present projects and innovative solutions for sustainable development.
He extended an invitation to participating countries and young individuals worldwide to join the fifth edition of the award, reaffirming Bahrain's commitment to collaborating with partners to enhance the role of youth in building a more peaceful and sustainable future.
