Bahrain’s Parliamentary Delegation Joins Forum of Women Parliamentarians in Geneva


Geneva: The Kingdom of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation took part in the second session of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, which was held during the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 19 to 23.



According to Bahrain News Agency, Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, a member of the Shura Council and part of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, stated that Bahrain ensures women’s rights to political participation and decision-making under the Constitution without any legislative or social limitations. She expressed pride in the support that Bahraini women receive from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Consort of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).



Al Zayed praised the SCW for its programs that promote women’s leadership, political empowerment, and gender-responsive budgeting. She noted the increasing participation and leadership of women in parliament.



She also highlighted the achievements of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in advancing women’s roles and emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to moving from participation to influence. Al Zayed encouraged young women to engage in politics as a national duty.
