Baku: Bahrain's parliamentary division delegation, led by MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, convened with Syahrul Aidi Maazat, a member of the People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, during the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States in Azerbaijan.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting included MP Mohammed Janahi and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives and Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Bahraini Parliamentary Division. Discussions focused on resuming activities and meetings of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) and strategies to ensure the continuity of its programs, thereby bolstering Asian parliamentary cooperation.
The participants also examined the APA Executive Council's decision to appoint Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain as Acting Secretary-General of the APA Interim Secretariat. This appointment aims to facilitate the assembly's work, improve communication with member parliaments, and ensure the execution of decisions made by the Executive Council and standing committees.
Syahrul Aidi Maazat acknowledged the efforts to maintain the APA's activities and praised Bahrain's role in promoting parliamentary coordination. He highlighted the importance of enhancing communication among member parliaments to fulfill the assembly's objectives and improve its effectiveness in the future.
