Bahrain’s Non-Oil Exports Drop Significantly in August 2026

Manama:Non-oil exports of national origin in Bahrain reached BD153 million in August 2026, marking a 56% decrease compared to the same month in 2025, according to the Information and eGovernment Authority's (iGA) Foreign Trade report.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the report shows a notable decline in the value of non-oil imports as well, which fell by 16% to BD409 million in August 2026 from BD489 million in August 2025. Imports from the top 10 countries made up 68% of the total import value. China led the imports with BD72 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates at BD44 million, and Saudi Arabia at BD42 million. The top imported products included aluminum oxide, turbo-jets, and private cars.

The report highlighted that the top 10 countries accounted for 78% of the national origin export value. Saudi Arabia was the largest importer of Bahrain's non-oil exports, receiving BD50 million worth, followed by the United States with BD19 million, and the United Arab Emirates with BD18 million. The primary export products were unwrought aluminum alloys, alloyed aluminum wire, and non-alloyed aluminum wire.

Re-exports also saw a decline, dropping by 28% to BD46 million. The United Arab Emirates topped the list of re-export partners, followed by Saudi Arabia and the United States. Gold ingots were Bahrain's most significant re-export item.

The trade balance, representing the difference between exports and imports, showed a deficit of BD210 million in August 2026, widening from a deficit of BD75 million in August 2025.
