Manama:Bahrain's Foreign Minister has outlined the nation's integrated diplomatic efforts that have expanded international support and strengthened the legal basis for Bahrain's position during recent Iranian attacks. According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, these efforts were coordinated across political, legal, and technical tracks, engaging more than ten international and regional organizations and forums. A significant achievement was the support of 136 countries for UN Security Council Resolution 2817, adopted on March 11, 2026. Additionally, 100 countries backed an international statement on maritime security, and 95 supported an agenda item at the 79th World Health Assembly, which led to the adoption of a Gulf-Jordanian resolution with the support of 91 countries. Bahrain also submitted 33 official communications to the United Nations, comprising 23 national and 10 joint GCC letters. The political track of these efforts included Bahrain's presidency of the UN Security Council in April 2026 and its leadership roles in the GCC and the League of Arab States. Bahrain also engaged in joint Gulf coordination in international organizations, the GCC-EU High-Level Forum, the Ministerial Contact Group on Iran, and initiatives concerning maritime security and the Strait of Hormuz. Bahrain's involvement with specialized international organizations, such as the World Health Organization and International Civil Aviation Organization, focused on documenting the attacks' impacts, addressing their implications for aviation and maritime security, safeguarding the technical mandates of international organizations, and coordinating positions to mobilize support for Resolution 2817. The Foreign Minister emphasized that these diplomatic endeavors broadened international support for Bahrain and strengthened its legal standing under UN Security Council Resolution 2817, the UN Charter, and international law. They also facilitated Bahrain's ability to counter Iranian claims through legal and technical responses. The se efforts have enhanced institutional coordination among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, national authorities, and diplomatic missions, reinforcing Bahrain's role in multilateral diplomacy. The Foreign Minister concluded by affirming that Bahrain intends to continue building on these outcomes to expand international partnerships, safeguard its interests, and promote regional and international security, stability, and peace.
