Bahrain’s Defense Efforts Highlighted Amid Regional Tensions

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today highlighted significant local events, focusing on the nation's defense capabilities and diplomatic engagements. The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, His Majesty the King, hosted the UK Defense Secretary, underscoring the importance of international defense cooperation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) General Command reported the destruction of 182 missiles and 398 drones since the onset of Iranian attacks. In the last 24 hours alone, the National Command Center (NCC) confirmed that BDF air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed eight missiles and seven drones, reflecting Bahrain's robust defensive measures.

Additionally, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting, where he also met with the UK Secretary of State for Defence, reaffirming Bahrain's strategic alliances. Meanwhile, HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim praised the role of Bahraini women amidst ongoing regional threats.

On the diplomatic front, Bahrain's Foreign Minister engaged in discussions with his Finnish counterpart, as well as the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Furthermore, a virtual meeting was convened between GCC, Jordanian, and Russian Foreign Ministers, highlighting Bahrain's active role in regional diplomacy.

In other developments, the Finance Minister welcomed the Chair of Trustees of the IISS Advisory Council, while Bahrain chaired the GCC Telecommunications Legislation and Regulation Committee meeting. Notably, three individuals were arrested for forming a terrorist cell linked to the Lebanese Hezbollah group, underlining Bahrain's continued efforts in counter-terrorism.
