Bahrain’s Al Munther Satellite Successfully Launched as King Establishes Space Agency

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today reported on several significant events that transpired over the past 24 hours. Among these events was the successful launch of the 'Al Munther' satellite into orbit, a milestone that was celebrated by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who received HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and officials from the Bahrain Space Agency. This achievement coincides with the issuance of Decree (14) of 2025 by HM King, which establishes the Bahrain Space Agency.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the day also saw HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister engaging in key meetings. He met with the Chairman of the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Disease to discuss pertinent health issues and also presided over the weekly Cabinet Meeting, where various governmental affairs were deliberated upon.

In other news, the Information Minister attended the closing ceremony of the Media Talents Award 2024. The ceremony marked the culmination of efforts to recognize emerging media professionals in the region. Meanwhile, a report released by QS highlighted the higher education opportunities available in Bahrain, noting the strong performance of Bahraini Tawjihiya students in the Medicine Degree program at the RCSI Medical University of Bahrain.

Additionally, the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) has enhanced accessibility to essential services by facilitating access to ID card and Birth Certificate services through the MyGov app. In the realm of education, a graduation ceremony was held by the Shura Council General Secretariat and Bahrain Polytechnic, celebrating the achievements of new graduates in the country.
