Cairo: MP Mamdooh Abbas Al Saleh, Chairman of the Services Committee at the Council of Representatives, has been elected Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament during its plenary session for the fourth legislative term, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. The election highlights Bahrain’s active participation in Arab and international parliamentary forums, under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh expressed that this achievement demonstrates the continued support from Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and the Council’s members for Bahrain’s parliamentary diplomacy, which is steadily expanding its regional and international presence. Al Saleh emphasized that his new role will enable him to contribute to unified Arab parliamentary efforts, addressing key regional issues such as the Palestinian cause, and enhancing cooperation and dialogue with other parliaments.
Hisham Ahmed Al Asheeri, Member of the Council of Representatives and Member of the Arab Parliament, praised the Speaker’s support for Bahrain’s parliamentary delegations. He stated that Al Saleh’s election strengthens Bahrain’s influence in Arab institutions and reflects its solid national and Arab positions. The position of Deputy Speaker is one of the senior leadership roles within the Arab Parliament, involving the management of sessions, supervision of committees, and representation in international meetings.
The Arab Parliament, comprising representatives from 22 Arab legislative bodies under the Arab League’s umbrella, plays a crucial role in promoting Arab legislative cooperation and joint parliamentary action.
