Manama: Bahraini cyclist Mohammed Hassan Jawad won the bronze medal in the three-kilometre race at the Track Asia Cup 2026 in Bangkok, marking Bahrain's first medal in track cycling. Jawad finished the race in 3:37.529 minutes at an average speed of 49.124 kilometres per hour. Kazakhstan's Zeinolla Azamatuly claimed second place in 3:35.820 minutes at an average speed of 50.041 kilometres per hour, while Saudi cyclist Hussain Al Saffar won the race in 3:28.420 minutes at an average speed of 51.818 kilometres per hour.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the bronze medal marked a historic achievement for Bahraini cycling and was the national team's first medal at the championship, which runs from August 28 to 30 in the Thai capital. The national team began preparations for track competitions earlier this summer by participating in a training camp in Shuzenji, Japan, from July 1 to 13.
The result reflects the technical programme developed by the Bahrain Cycling Association in preparation for such competitions. The team's second stage of preparation was held in Spain, where the cyclists achieved strong results in races while continuing their track cycling training programme. The Bahrain Cycling Association expressed hope that the cyclists will achieve further success in upcoming races and deliver results that contribute to the continued progress of Bahraini sport.
