Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has expressed its approval of the announcement made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the establishment of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. This development was hailed by Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a significant step towards regional peace and stability.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its appreciation for President Trump's diplomatic efforts that facilitated the ceasefire agreement. The Ministry also praised the initiative taken by Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun to promote diplomatic solutions and prevent further escalation, with the aim of achieving long-lasting peace.
The Ministry reiterated Bahrain's consistent support for Lebanon's security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It underscored the importance of ensuring that arms are retained solely under the state's authority. The Ministry highlighted the significance of direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, facilitated by the United States, as a crucial approach to securing a permanent ceasefire.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized the necessity of strengthening Lebanese state institutions and extending governmental authority across the entire Lebanese territory. This, it noted, should be achieved through the complete implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and in alignment with the Taif Agreement framework.
Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that these efforts will significantly contribute to enhancing Lebanon's security, stability, and prosperity, while also bolstering peace and security in the wider region.
