Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has officially launched a website (www.goldenresidency.gov.bh) and a hotline (+973 17484000) to provide detailed information on the Golden Residency Programme. This initiative is part of Bahrain's ongoing efforts to attract exceptional talent and investment, boost economic competitiveness, and advance development across various sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Golden Residency Programme, introduced in 2022 under the Economic Recovery Plan, offers qualifying individuals and their families the opportunity to obtain permanent residency in Bahrain. Eligible participants include investors, property owners, artists, athletes, professionals with specialised skills, and long-serving employees.
Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, highlighted Bahrain's strategic location and business environment. She noted that the launch of the website and hotline would improve the accessibility and visibility of the programme, fostering a thriving ecosystem for global talent and investors.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs, stated that this initiative marks a significant step in enhancing residency services, contributing to Bahrain's position as a regional leader in business and lifestyle offerings.
The programme is available to employees who have worked in Bahrain for at least five years, earning a monthly salary of no less than BHD 2,000 (approximately USD 5,306) throughout that period. It extends to individuals owning real estate in Bahrain valued at BHD 200,000 (approximately USD 530,555) or more.
Retirees qualify if they have worked in Bahrain for at least 15 years and receive a monthly pension of at least BHD 2,000. Non-resident retirees may apply if their pension exceeds BHD 4,000 (approximately USD 10,624).
The programme also targets entrepreneurs and highly skilled professionals who contribute to Bahrain's economy or society. Applications can be submitted via Bahrain's eGovernment portal, with a dedicated support team available to assist applicants and Golden Residency holders.
