Bangkok: Bahraini national judo team athlete Said Sadrudinov secured first place and won the gold medal in the under-100kg category of the 2025 Asian Judo Championships held in Thailand. The championship featured 289 male and female competitors representing 29 countries from across Asia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Sadrudinov delivered outstanding performances throughout the early rounds, advancing to the finals, where he defeated several opponents before achieving victory in the final match to claim the gold medal.
Faisal Khalid Kanoo, President of the Bahrain Judo Federation, attributed the achievement to the support of the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the sports sector. He also commended the continuous backing of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), for all sports disciplines, especially combat sports, and to support Bahraini sports teams to achieve further successes.
He also commended the continued oversight by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, whose efforts have raised the standard of national sports federations and helped athletes achieve results that strengthen Bahrain's position on the continental and international sports map.
Kanoo highlighted the technical level demonstrated by Sadrudinov during the championship, underscoring that this achievement will serve as strong motivation for the athlete to continue delivering top performances and compete for distinguished results in future participations, adding to the notable achievements of judo within Bahrain's sports record.
He emphasised that the Federation remains committed to creating ideal conditions and supporting national teams and athletes to achieve the Federation's goals, which focus on strengthening the presence of Bahraini judo on the international stage and attaining further success.
