Bahrain Supports UN Resolution on Extending Yemen Mission

New york: Jamal Faris Al Rowaiei, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, participated in the Security Council voting session held under the agenda item Middle East - Yemen. During the session, Bahrain voted in favour of Resolution 2813, which was submitted by the United Kingdom.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the resolution seeks to restructure the operations of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA). It aims to integrate the mission's core related tasks with the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen. The resolution also stipulates the extension of the mission's mandate for two months, until March 31. This extension will enable the mission to complete procedures for ending its operational presence in Al Hudaydah Governorate and ensure a safe and orderly transition of its core tasks.

The Kingdom of Bahrain's support for the resolution aligns with its ongoing backing of the United Nations Special Envoy's efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis. Bahrain advocates for inclusive dialogue involving all Yemeni parties, with the goal of reaching a comprehensive and lasting political settlement that preserves Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
