Manama: Bahrain Spikers emerged victorious in the final of the inaugural Women's Volleyball Equality League, defeating Sporsista at the Isa Bin Rashid Hall in Isa Sports City. The event saw strong attendance from both officials and the public.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the final was aligned with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, aimed at empowering Bahraini women and boosting their participation in sports. The closing day witnessed the presence of Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority; Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Volleyball Association; and Shaikha Dr. Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Committee on Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance in Sports.
Bahrain Spikers secured the title by defeating Sporsista 2-0. Sporsista finished as runners-up, while the University of Bahrain claimed third place after overcoming Volley Vibes. The league, organized by the General Sports Authority in collaboration with the Committee on Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance in Sports and the Bahrain Volleyball Association, featured eight teams representing clubs, academies, educational institutions, and private teams. This initiative reflects a growing interest in women's sports in Bahrain and aims to enhance competitive opportunities for women.
The closing ceremony included an awards presentation, recognizing Al Rawabi Private School as the most promising team and Al Maha Academy with the fair play award. The tournament concluded with significant public engagement, emphasizing the league's impact on supporting women's sports and increasing Bahraini women's participation in sporting competitions.
