Bahrain Space Agency Honours Polytechnic Student for Award-Winning “AquaMap” Project

Manama: Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Asiri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, received student Maryam Saleh from Bahrain Polytechnic to honor her for winning first place in the public sector category at the annual graduation project exhibition, The Grads Expo 2025, for her project "AquaMap." The project was supervised by Professor Roaya Rashed Bubshait, Head of Geospatial Analytics.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Asiri congratulated Maryam Saleh on her achievement, commending the quality of her project and her ability to apply modern technologies in service of Bahrain's environmental and fisheries sectors. He also praised the collaboration between the agency and Bahrain Polytechnic and expressed his appreciation for Professor Bubshait's efforts in guiding the students toward this success.

Maryam provided a detailed explanation of her project, "AquaMap," which aims to identify potential fishing zones using high-resolution satellite imagery and spatial data analysis, presented through an interactive, user-friendly platform. She emphasized that this achievement would not have been possible without the technical and training support provided by the Bahrain Space Agency.

Professor Bubshait expressed her pride in Maryam's achievement, noting her ability to turn challenges into opportunities by developing an innovative platform that promotes environmental and fisheries sustainability in Bahrain.

Dr. Al Asiri honored both Maryam Saleh and Professor Rouya Bubshait for their achievement, highlighting the Bahrain Space Agency's commitment to supporting national talent and strengthening collaboration with higher education institutions. He noted that this win is a successful example of community partnership leading to scientific accomplishments aligned with Bahrain's Vision 2030.

The "AquaMap" project received wide acclaim during The Grads Expo 2025, organised by the College of Information and Communication Technology at Bahrain Polytechnic, where students showcased innovative projects offering advanced technical solutions to local and global challenges.
