Bahrain Space Agency Engages in Arab Space Cooperation Group Meetings

Muscat: The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), representing the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated in the twelfth session of the Arab Space Cooperation Group meetings, held in Oman, on the sidelines of the second edition of the Middle East Space Conference. The meetings were attended by the heads of space agencies of the Arab member states of the Group, alongside a number of distinguished guests, and saw broad participation from senior officials and space experts from across the Arab world.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the session reviewed the implementation of key recommendations issued during the eleventh meeting, aimed at strengthening space cooperation among Arab states and supporting sustainable development efforts through the effective utilisation of space technologies. Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the BSA, who headed the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to the meetings, stated that the session addressed key developments and proposals submitted by the Group's 14 Arab member states. Discussions also covered the outcomes of the working group meetings, which lay the foundation for joint Arab cooperation in the space sector through the implementation of integrative projects that support development initiatives in member states, in addition to capacity-building efforts in space sciences.

He added that the Kingdom of Bahrain presented a dedicated overview highlighting its most notable achievements since the eleventh meeting, across various sectors related to space projects, research, studies, and space-based applications. The Bahraini delegation also took part in discussions on the most effective mechanisms to enhance joint Arab action and maximise the benefits of space sciences in contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as exploring ways to leverage the Arab Satellite 813.

Dr. Al Aseeri concluded by extending his appreciation to Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for its significant efforts in organising this important event, in support of the continuity of Arab cooperation and the advancement of the space sector in the region.
