Manama: The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has conducted a series of scientific and awareness lectures targeting teachers affiliated with the Ministry of Education. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the Kingdom's role in the space sector and to familiarise educators with BSA's latest projects and services.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of the BSA, emphasised the value of this partnership, which enabled direct engagement with teachers, considered the foundation for shaping knowledgeable and creative generations. The lectures aimed to familiarise educators with Bahrain's achievements in the space sector under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, enabling them to share this knowledge in their schools and guide students as future contributors to the nation. Education was highlighted as a key pillar in achieving Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, especially in building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
The lectures were delivered by four experts from the BSA: Roaya Rashed Bubshait, Head of Geospatial Analytics; aerospace engineer Muneera Jassim Al Malki; aerospace engineer Ali Ibrahim Al Qaraan; and engineer Aisha Yousif Al Mahmeed. The sessions provided a comprehensive overview of the BSA's role in positioning the Kingdom of Bahrain as a leading nation in the space sector. This included a presentation of major achievements, space projects, and services offered to over 32 government entities and several private sector stakeholders.
The lectures also highlighted the value of satellite data, imagery, and analytical studies in supporting comprehensive and sustainable development, in addition to the BSA's contributions to scientific research and technological innovation. Bubshait noted that the engagement offered an opportunity to connect with teachers who play a key role in shaping students' awareness. She added that the sessions aimed to showcase how space data can support vital sectors and be translated into innovative educational opportunities in classrooms.
Al Malki described the initiative as a significant step towards building a space-focused culture among teachers, enabling them to relay this knowledge to students. She presented examples of the BSA's technical projects and their role in strengthening the national economy and cultivating highly skilled Bahraini professionals in the space domain. Al Qaraan noted that the goal was to inspire future generations and encourage interest in space sciences, adding that cooperation with the Ministry of Education aims to bridge advanced technology with the education system, thereby preparing national talent capable of leading the future.
Speaking about the positive engagement and strong attendance, Al Mahmeed observed the enthusiasm among teachers to learn about the space sector and its relevance to everyday life. She explained that the BSA's role extends beyond technical research to include community outreach and efforts to establish a sustainable space sector supported by public-private collaboration and qualified Bahraini professionals. The lectures, she said, provided a platform to explain how space technologies can help address daily challenges and how teachers can play an active role in spreading this knowledge.
The lecture series forms part of the BSA's efforts to promote awareness of space sciences and technologies, and to highlight their role in supporting comprehensive national development, in line with the goals of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
